Hostel Kings n' Queens

Barislav, the host we dealt with most often, was sweet, polite, and helpful from check-in to checkout. My partner and I enjoyed talking with him about Croatia, its history and current situation, and his own background and experiences on this side of the world. Everyone we spoke to was courteous. I did run into a bit of a language barrier with a couple of the other staff, but my partner and I only speak English and hadn't taken the time to learn much of the local language, so that was a small and understandable issue. The breakfast was another highlight. It arrived promptly each morning, and the quality was terrific. The eggs and jam tasted so fresh, and the meat and bread were hard to stop eating. If you're on a budget, breakfast was filling enough that you could happily have just breakfast and dinner that day. Kings and Queens Hostel is right downtown, within a 10-20 minute walk of more than 10 museums, the old town, and other sights. There are plenty of public transit options nearby, and parking for people renting a ride. It's in a very cool old building, with an adorable cafe downstairs, space to hang out on the patio, and a loft above the ground floor. The facility was clean from the entrance to the bedrooms, and the bathrooms were cleaned frequently each day. The service was polite, too. My partner and I definitely plan to return to Zagreb, and we'll visit our friends at the Kings & Queens again. We had a truly spectacular stay and highly recommend it.
