Hotel Zagreb

The buffet at the restaurant is well stocked, and you won't leave hungry. Reception staff are kind and happy to answer questions; you can ask them for a hair fan. Outside, the hotel doesn't look great, though the inside is better. There's still a lot of unused space, which can feel uncomfortable. From my sixth-floor balcony I had a terrifying straight-down view, but the view out across the horizon was terrific, as you can see in the pictures. The elevator is old and creepy, so I recommended taking the stairs. A little exercise never hurt anybody.

The hotel sits near a lovely city park with a lake and other amenities, and getting to Zagreb's center is safe and straightforward, with frequent, reliable buses; Uber and taxis are also options. The staff service is excellent. The building needs refurbishment, though, and the spacious parking lot could use some improvement.

We've stayed at Hotel Zagreb six times and really love it. It's a no-frills place, but the room is clean, the people are friendly, and breakfast is superb. The beautiful Zagreb city centre is just a short walk away. What more could you want?

I've come back about six times over the past ten years. It's a lovely setting by Bundek lake, with a traffic-free route along the Sava that's great for a morning run. The city, about 5km away, and the airport are both easy to reach. The hotel is somewhat dated and needs some work, but it's always been clean and the staff have been helpful.
