Rooms Madison

Ivan at reception was fantastic. He gave me a discount, helped me retrieve my things when my key broke in the lock, and was ready to sort out any trouble during my stay. I was in Zagreb for a two-day business trip and Rooms Madison suited me as a budget option. My room was small, with a bed, TV, A/C, and bathroom, but fine for sleeping over two nights. Since I was driving, the parking was useful, and the hotel sits at a crossroads with easy routes to the city center or out of town. I'd recommend it to undemanding travellers.

The rooms were pretty and very clean, and the staff were friendly and helpful. It's good value for what they offer in the middle of Croatia's capital, with cozy rooms and nice facilities. Parking is offered, but the space is very small and there are only limited spots. Street parking is also available, and it's free city parking. The area around the hotel isn't the best, though you can catch the tram right outside or walk about 20 minutes to the city center. All in all, a great place to stay.

We had to leave at around 2 am and sleep at a friend's place because the noise from a birthday party in the basement bar was unbearable. We were staying on the ground floor, and the owner had rented out the bar for the party despite knowing beforehand it could be loud. We had an early start the next morning. The following day, the owner refunded only part of our money. Also, despite what the website says, reception isn't open 24/7. Horrible experience.

The tram stop is close, and the city center is only 3-4 stops away. The location is okay if you don't expect too much. The rooms are cheap and clean, though quite small. Mine smelled of cigars, so maybe they shouldn't allow smoking inside. The air conditioning looked old and dirty, and I wouldn't use it. There was a party in the bar downstairs when we arrived, but the music stopped around 1 am.
