We came because of the reviews. The rooms looked clean, but the bed and pillows were so uncomfortable that we couldn’t sleep. We were offered a dinner special described as veal steak with salad and beef soup. What arrived was flank steak, soup, salad, and fries. It cost over 50€ for two people, which was ridiculously expensive. We also had to pay a 50€ deposit at check-in, something that wasn’t mentioned anywhere. In response to the reply: we booked through booking.com, and it didn’t mention a deposit. Other reviews say the same. The server offered us a special, then said it wasn’t on the menu and was “in his head” while we were looking at it. The receipt itself says flank, not veal. Veal comes from a young cow, and this was flank steak. It wasn’t worth 20€ per person. I don’t know why you care where we come from or whether you think I’m Romanian. Why would that be a problem? Where I’m from or where I live is none of your business. My details are correct, and I don’t owe anyone an explanation.

I was very happy with my stay. The staff were welcoming and friendly, and the rooms were spotless. They’d left towels and some sweets on the bed, a really thoughtful touch. The only thing I’d change is that breakfast could have more variety.

I wouldn’t stay here again and would suggest looking elsewhere if your safety and peace of mind matter to you. I had things stolen from my room, and the management’s response was shocking and completely unprofessional. When I reported what was missing, the manager brushed me off, acted arrogantly, and refused to take responsibility. He laughed it off and said theft at the hotel was “not his problem.” That kind of disregard for guests’ security is unacceptable.

The restaurant stays open late, the beer is good, and the vodka is cold. Breakfast was the best in Zagreb. Staff work to a high standard, and the rooms are clean and nice. It’s quiet at night, too. The center isn’t far if you’re driving, or take an Uber for 20 kunas.
