Le Paradis S. Hotel

I stayed six nights with my girlfriend, and everyone was kind, especially the cleaning lady. But I told them about the hot water and they did nothing until I left. I can’t shower in cold water, and that really put me off.

The customer service is what earns this hotel its four stars for me. The staff are professional, very courteous, and clearly trained to satisfy guests. I spoke a few times with a manager or the person in charge, and she came across as wonderful and honest. The hotel is in the center of town, and I’d call it a boutique hotel, though it isn’t modern like hotels in many other countries. Other amenities were standard. The TV wasn’t quite what I’m used to, and the place could use some updating. The bed was very comfortable, the bathroom clean, and the AC ran from 7 pm to 7 am.

We needed a place for our last two nights in Haiti and chose this hotel after looking around. I expected a dump, but it surprised us. We were four people in a room with two double beds, and there was plenty of space. The bathroom was huge too, and the AC was great. It went out one night while they were changing it, but they fixed it in under five minutes. When our AC leaked, they sent someone quickly and offered us another room in the middle of the night if we needed it. There was an armed security guard at the entrance at all times, even when reception was empty, so I felt safe. Breakfast was good, and they took our order. I wasn’t happy about having to pay for bottled water when we didn’t want to drink what I think was tap water, especially since we were already sick. The biggest problem was the WiFi. Our room wouldn’t connect reliably, and moving to another room didn’t help. They said they’d call the technician, but he never came. I had to sit outside my room to get online, without AC, then keep going back and forth. Even so, we were impressed, especially after our previous hotel on a faraway hill where people couldn’t get to.
