Moulin Sur Mer

The quiet is what makes this a great beach resort for me. It's smaller than its neighbor, and the staff are kind and helpful. Meals are freshly made in-house, with authentic Haitian food and no rush to eat or do anything. You can bring your own snorkeling or diving gear, or rent it at the shop next door. And that end-of-day massage out on the pier, with almost nothing but water washing onto the sand, is hard to miss.

The beach is stunning, and the grounds are gorgeous and neatly kept. I wasn't comfortable with the monkeys, birds, and other animals being kept in display cages, though. The staff were extremely friendly. Breakfast was a fantastic buffet, and the food was good. The rooms were just okay, but I didn't spend much time in them, so it wasn't an issue.

The colors here are so vivid, and the price is cheap compared with what you'd pay for a place like this in Florida. The rooms are very simple, but this feels like a true paradise where you can get away from everything. The whole place has a relaxing feel, and everyone was pretty nice. Wi-Fi worked, though my phone kept dropping the connection. I didn't mind much. For a getaway, this place is hard to beat.

Moulin Sur Mer has such a relaxed feel, and it isn't just for expats, which I liked. The grounds are huge and lovely, and the accommodations were great. The ocean was clear and calm. They have kayaking and other options, though I didn't try them. The staff were helpful, the food was exquisite, and the fresh-fruit juices were delicious, including in cocktails. Wi-Fi wasn't fully reliable, but this is the kind of place where you might want to put your phone away.
