Csernai Villa

This could be a pleasant, clean place to stay, but the host’s manner made our experience awful. I’d suggest arranging and paying in advance with the woman who answers the phone. When something doesn’t go the way the host expects, or he can’t see a reference or possible internet outage, he switches to a disgusting, degrading, unbearable way of speaking. We left for another accommodation after just one night because the experience had poisoned our relaxation. We’d rather lose the cost of that night. That student money was expensive.

We’d stayed here three times before and had been satisfied: the accommodation was clean and renovated. For our planned fourth visit in August 2024, we had an email confirming the booking for that exact day, and as usual had transferred the cost of one night. But when we arrived, Mr. Csernai said there was no reservation or room. He said he wasn’t interested in seeing the email, and that they could send back the one-night payment while we went home. His tone was forceful. We didn’t insult him or say anything bad about the mistake. I was just sitting there disappointed and unsure what to do, and my frustration made dear Mr. Árpád Csernai furious. I wasn’t making faces, just showing how upset I was. He called his daughter. We were supposed to stay two nights; they offered to put us up for one night, then we’d have to see where to go the next day. We didn’t agree right away because I hadn’t even unpacked and didn’t want to get up in the morning and leave because someone else was arriving. We went upstairs to look at the room, and I still said nothing, just felt disappointed. I couldn’t rest with this happening, and started yelling at my partner while I was standing beside them. When I couldn’t stop, I told my partner we should leave because I couldn’t take it any more. Anyone can make a mistake, and we hadn’t complained about that. Anyone would have felt disappointed and frustrated, but as the host he shouldn’t have spoken to us that way. As we left, he even shouted that we should avoid the house and its surroundings. We will, but because we don’t want to go back. I spoke to the woman who handles the accommodation on the phone when we arrived. She could only apologize for her father’s behavior and tried to find us another place, which worked out. I wouldn’t recommend staying here to anyone sensitive to this sort of thing, because Mr. Csernai seems unable to control himself over the slightest situation. On an earlier stay, I’d lent him my phone because his wasn’t working, and I had to listen to him yell at a family member over the phone about something unrelated to us that needed sorting out. My partner’s birthday was that day, and it put a damper on the few days of relaxation we get each year. I’d recommend the accommodation to people who aren’t bothered by incidents like this.

The street is peaceful, though the beach is a long way off. It was clean, but we only received one towel each. Everywhere else I’ve stayed, there have been at least two. I also really missed having a mosquito net on the bathroom window.

A clean, friendly place where everything was very good. I’d definitely recommend it!
