Holiday Inn Budapest-Budaörs by IHG

The hotel was decent enough for a business stay, but the booking problem really soured things. We booked with a reputable online travel company and the charge had already gone through on my card. We arrived very late, and even after I showed the receptionist the email and payment, he said the room wasn't paid for. I had no choice but to pay again. I had to get the booking company to contact the hotel and sort it out. The next day I told the manager that when there's clearly a contract with a booking company and I've shown proof the room is paid for, the hotel should resolve it with them instead of charging me again and making me deal with it.

The breakfast set us up well for each day. It was fresh and delicious, with an impressive range of hot and cold dishes, including fruit, pastries, and specialties cooked to order. We also ate at the hotel's a la carte restaurant. The food was flavorful, beautifully cooked, and served in generous portions. Prices were surprisingly reasonable for such abundant, high quality food. The rooms were a highlight of our trip. The beds were incredibly comfortable, and the quiet atmosphere meant we slept well after long travel days. The bathroom was spotless, with gleaming fixtures and fresh towels. My recent stay at Holiday Inn Budapest was an absolute delight and exceeded my expectations in every way. Comfort, cleanliness, and outstanding food at good value made for a remarkable experience. I'd highly recommend it to anyone looking for a superb place to stay.

Breakfast and bar staff were rude and unfriendly when we asked for help. We had an empty 500ml water bottle and politely asked the bar to fill it with tap water, but they told me to go fill it from the toilet. At check-in, we'd been told we'd get free mineral water bottles as Holiday Inn members. It felt like some people there lacked hospitality and respect. We weren't staying for free, and their behavior left me feeling awful at checkout. The breakfast was bad too. The cheese and scrambled eggs looked and tasted like plastic, the salads didn't look fresh, and some seemed spoiled. It tasted like they precooked everything and reheated it all week. Even the eggs had hardly any egg taste. I was shocked by food that poor at a 4 star hotel. It looks like the hotel is cutting costs wherever it can, but doing that with food is unacceptable. There were some good points: we stayed two nights, and the person who checked us in was friendly and professional. Our Executive rooms were neat and comfortable, and the sauna was nice, especially since it's open 24 hours.

Good service, clean rooms with all the amenities, and a tasty breakfast. A good hotel.
