The shared spaces have an incredible view, and there's a nice kitchen where you can make your own breakfast. For a hostel, the basics were good: strong Wi-Fi, enough outlets, decent beds, and hot showers. It's central, good value for budget travelers, and there was always a staff member around at check-in. The rooms are quite crowded, though, and having children share dorms with adult guests may not work well. There was constant crying that affected our sleep. The rooms themselves were very clean, although some guests were rude. The showers felt like something out of purgatory.

There were live cockroaches in the room, two alive and one dead. The place was dirty, full of dust and trash that we had to clean ourselves, and the receptionist even blamed us. We waited more than an hour for the host, who never arrived. Their idea of compensation was a Coca Cola and a water. A terrible experience. Definitely a place to avoid, not “the place to be in Budapest.”

We found bed bugs in the room and decided to move to another hotel. The guy at the front desk said we'd get a refund for the nights we didn't stay, but three months have passed and I still haven't received anything. I've messaged them every week, so it seems deliberate, not a mistake. The front desk guy was pretty nice, but the room and bathroom were dirty and there were bed bugs in the bed. The low price isn't worth the risk of getting them on your clothes and bringing them home. Don't stay here.

I'm an American traveler and booked a couple of nights at this hostel. The staff were excellent and very helpful, and I want to be clear about that. One night, another person in my room violated me while I was sleeping. I left at 3 a.m. with nowhere else to sleep. The man at the desk offered me a room until 6 a.m., but I respectfully declined. The bathrooms and rooms were gross, and the sheets were dirty. It's a mess. Get a hotel or find another hostel.
