Aboriginal Budapest Apartments

I've visited Budapest six times and usually stayed in hotels. This trip my preferred hotel was unavailable, so I tried this place, and it worked out well. The location is very nice, and the room had a balcony, which was a bonus. Agnes was welcoming and quick to answer any questions or requests. My one gripe was that they don't provide toiletries like shampoo or body wash. Maybe that's normal for apartments, but I haven't stayed in many and found it a bit uncool.

The apartment is spacious, really its main plus, but it's not a hotel at all. Getting to the metro and attractions isn't too bad, though the street feels a bit seedy. The kitchen is frustratingly under-equipped: there's an oven but no suitable pan beyond a stew pot, and the only "sharp" knife is a steak knife. The microwave takes up over half the counter, leaving hardly any room to prepare food. Even making a sandwich means moving the espresso machine and toaster into a cupboard. Salt was the only edible thing there, not even pepper. From the sixth-floor balcony, which looks into an enclosed courtyard, all you see are the surrounding building's walls. The windows face west onto the courtyard, so on a May afternoon it gets intolerably hot. The air conditioner is basically a wall fan and only seemed to cool the place by a few degrees, if that. Staff promised more service than they delivered. Most seemed friendly but inept, with one exception.

A good price for a studio close to the downtown ruin pubs, while the street itself is quiet. Most studios have a courtyard balcony. Seems ideal for a four-to-six-day stay in Budapest.

The staff were very kind and helpful, and the place is close to the clubs and bars. Just be aware there's no 24/7 desk, and they don't replace towels or clean the room daily.
