Best Choice Hostel

I gave it two stars for the price and location. It's a small hostel on Budapest's main street, and while it wasn't straightforward to find, someone friendly greeted me at check-in. The rooms don't match the photos, as several other guests and I noticed. They could use some touch-ups, like fresh paint, and there was a rather strange smell throughout my stay.

It's a small but cozy hostel with the basics covered, including a shower, toilet, kitchen, and electricity. The central location is its biggest plus, and it's not far from the 100E airport bus stop. Finding it can be a little tricky, but they give you clear directions. The staff are very polite and helpful.

There are no signs facing the street to show where the entrance is, and for a hostel in this location, there really should be. I never got a reply after emailing for help finding the door, so I had to ask a nearby hotel. Reception hours are limited, which is fine, but the online booking form lets you choose a check-in time, including times like 22:00-08:00. If reception closes at 22:00, Best Choice Hostel should remove those late check-in options or provide a gate code. The photos posted by other guests make it look like a nice hostel, and maybe it is, but too much about the place felt sketchy. Best Choice? More like “Worst Decision”.

The hostel was really clean, and the staff were very helpful. It wasn't easy to find without directions, and there's no sign on the building, just an advert for a thai spa by the front door. The price and facilities are really good, so I'd definitely recommend staying here.
