Danubius Hotel Arena

We were a family of four, and the rooms were spotless and well looked after. Coming back from a day out during the Christmas period, it was lovely to find them warm and inviting. My son was especially happy with the gym, and the hotel's amenities were very good in general. The metro is only a few steps away, so getting around Budapest was easy. We had a great stay and would come back. I'd recommend it to friends planning a trip here.

Breakfast was the standout for me, with an extensive, varied selection that was among the best I've had. The sauna was excellent too, while the pool was satisfactory. The rest of the hotel felt average overall. There was a slight smell in the room when we arrived, though airing it out cleared it quickly. In double rooms the beds are on wheels and kept drifting apart. Parking in front costs extra, and the machine sometimes wouldn't read cards; the rates are fairly high. You can pay at reception if the machine fails. The underground garage right beside the hotel is a much cheaper and convenient option.

The staff were capable, friendly, and really helpful, and the price was reasonable. It's also pet-friendly. The hotel sits right above the metro, with the city center close by. I'll stay there again. Peace ✌️

Breakfast had lots of choice and was excellent, and the sauna and pool were a nice extra, though just okay. Still, our three-day stay around New Year's Eve left us cold and disappointed. We had to switch rooms on arrival night because the first was extremely cold and its radiator wasn't working. After several calls, a technician came but didn't fix it. The next room wasn't much warmer either, since its radiator was too small to heat the whole space. With the outside temperatures so low, we were very cold throughout the stay. The rooms also felt dated, had a particular smell, and weren't clean to the standard I'd expect from a four-star hotel. I don't think that is acceptable for a place claiming four stars.
