We were away for only 30-45 minutes, and when we came back, someone had entered our locked room and stolen our things. Nothing was broken. The police said the burglars most likely had a key. The host wasn't helpful. He acted nonchalant and a bit suspicious. First he said we must not have locked the door, then he offered to change the lock, and after that his story changed and he had lots of excuses. I still wonder how anyone knew we'd be gone for just 30-45 minutes. It feels like we were watched, and like the host knows more than he's saying. He acts as if this is normal. We wanted to end our stay and move somewhere else because it didn't feel safe to sleep there. The host wouldn't accept our cancellation or refund anything, not even part of the cost. Find another place if you don't want to risk losing your luggage and money.

We couldn't leave our country because of Covid, but the host wouldn't reschedule our February 2021 trip or offer financial compensation. We'd booked in August and had already rescheduled once because Hungary's borders were closed. We lost more than 50%. Thanks!

The apartment is right across from Dohany Synagogue, in a really good location. It has nice facilities, and the owner was very kind and always available with help and tourist information.
