We couldn’t reach the venue because floods, including those happening in Hungary, led to our tickets being canceled. When we called, they said they would still charge us for canceling, even though a natural disaster had made travel impossible. I asked to cancel without a fee, but they refused, and Booking couldn’t help either. I know the usual cancellation deadline is five days ahead, but how could we have predicted that our train would be canceled on the day we were due to leave? Now we have to pay 200 euros for a stay we had no way of reaching through no fault of our own. This feels dishonest and indifferent.

We left right away because the room was dirty and the wellness area, including the saunas, wasn’t operating. Nobody told us about that before we arrived. We asked for a full refund, but the receptionist wouldn’t give his name or provide anything in writing. He said he couldn’t process the refund without a supervisor’s card, which I’ve never heard of. We agreed to a bank transfer, but nobody said it wouldn’t cover the full amount. The staff’s attitude and the way they speak to customers were appalling. I’m asking you to refund the missing 5000HUF as well. If this isn’t resolved, I’ll take the necessary steps with my English bank and the UK and Hungarian ombudsmen, and post comments on social media. With the floods in Central Europe, including Budapest, we couldn’t travel for reasons outside our control. The property wouldn’t return any money and told us to come there in person to explain what had happened. That’s irresponsible, and it showed no concern for our safety. If something prevents you from arriving, don’t expect a refund. They don’t seem to care what happens to guests.

The location is right in the heart of the city, and the staff were friendly. The streets nearby were dirty, though that’s nothing to do with the hotel. We also enjoyed the pool and sauna, and were given a larger apartment at no extra cost. The flat and its furniture had a lot of damage and really need renovating. Cleanliness was questionable too, though with such old materials, I think it’s hard to clean everything well, so I wouldn’t blame the cleaning staff. That’s why I gave it 3 stars.
