The reception is at Omega Guesthouse Budapest, and both places are disgusting. There’s no table or closet, and the lighting is so poor it stays dark even during the day. The bathtub leaks, leaving the bathroom damp all the time, and the towels smell the next day. Cockroaches of different sizes show up in the shared areas, kitchen, and sometimes even the room and bathroom. It feels like nobody is doing anything to get rid of them. Everything is old and covered in cobwebs. Even after cleaning, other people’s hair is smeared across the floor, and there are wet crumbs and bits lying around, from cockroach remains to feathers. Be prepared to lose time and patience trying to get anything essential from reception. The staff answer rudely and contemptuously, and give different information on different days. Don’t support that kind of rudeness.

The location was decent, but that was about the only thing I liked. I’ve stayed in plenty of European cities, and this was the worst accommodation I’ve come across. It felt old and uncomfortable, with dirt on the walls and tables and stains all over the sheets. The bed was really uncomfortable, parts of the bathroom were rusty, and nobody had even cleared the cobwebs from the ceiling. The front yard looked like something from a horror movie.

The website photos gave a completely different impression from the real place. The room had a very strange, unpleasant smell, there were no face towels, and the body towels were torn. One of the worst hotels I’ve stayed in.

It’s close to the city center, but still a quiet place to stay in one of Budapest’s typical buildings. The rooms turned out even better than I’d expected from a guest house.
