The shower setup was the biggest issue. The heater sits inside the shower, so we had to leave a window open because of the gas and be careful not to splash water onto it. Even a small movement could send the water from boiling hot to freezing cold. The apartment itself was quite spacious, more than enough for all of us. Getting there was another hassle: we reached the given address, searched for nearly 15 minutes, then had to call the owner three times before he came to show us the right place. If all you need is a shower and somewhere to sleep, it’s not bad, but don’t expect a five-star stay.

We only needed a bed for one night in Budapest, and the price was practically nothing. Still, I wouldn’t call this a hotel, and especially not an “emerald.” It was a small room with a tiny bathroom in a different building from the hotel address.

Our booking was called off with no explanation, just ten days before we were due to arrive for the Sziget festival. We’d received no warning, and after several calls the receptionist stopped answering us. I wouldn’t trust this hostel with a reservation.

There was no electricity on the night we were supposed to go there, and the location wasn’t even right. Inside the apartment, there was dust everywhere and it didn’t seem to have been cleaned. The towels they gave us were small and damp. It was far too expensive for what you got, since you could find a lax apartment for the same money. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone, even if it were free.

The signs are poor, so it’s hard to find. When you ring the bell at the building, which was full of rubbish, they tell you it isn’t a hostel. Don’t book here.
