Esprit Hotel Budapest

The location is handy, close to the Metro and the main bus and tram routes. The bed was comfortable, and the clean bedding smelled nice. For the price, the stay was okay, but only just. The staff seemed uninterested. I also found it really strange that we had to hand over our room key every time we left. It made me uneasy about leaving valuables behind. Breakfast was the same each day, set out on a table by the hotel entrance. It looked very cheap, with nothing fresh except cucumber, and we could take it to our room or eat outside the hotel.

The only real plus was the location, near the center and train station. The room was very small with just one window, and the pictures on booking.com looked very different from reality. Luckily, it was winter, so we could air out the stale smell. The bed was awful. I’m quite light, but it felt so old it could break, and it creaked loudly whenever I moved. The walls were thin too. We could hear people in other rooms getting up to shower or flush the toilet. The bathroom had no visible mold, thankfully, but it badly needed renovation. The toilet lid was especially yellow and disgusting. We included breakfast, which was served on a small table in front of the main entrance, across from reception. It made it awkward to move around, and the food looked like the cheapest supermarket options. It was my first time seeing a breakfast buffet like that. It went against all the standards of hotel hospitality and hygiene. With the window open, street noise echoed through the room as well. Based on all that, I’d say stay away from this hotel unless they make serious renovations and rethink the design to keep up in the hotel market.

The hotel was clean and served a decent breakfast. The staff were accommodating and informative, and helped us find other sights and the central market for souvenirs and local food. Ms Laura even went the extra mile and contacted us about the taxi booked for the airport.

Getting around was easy, and the staff were really friendly. The rooms were comfortable and very clean, too. There’s a small buffet breakfast included, and the location is great.
