Fortuna Boat Hotel

The staff were so helpful and lovely, and they speak English. Rooms are clean, the food and location are good, and the service is great for the price.

Watching the Danube go by over breakfast was a lovely start to the day. The breakfast was great, and every member of staff made us feel very welcome. Our room was clean, with a comfortable bed, and they gave us extra pillows and lent us a hair dryer at no charge. We stayed Friday to Monday for 3 nights, travelling from England with Jet2. The hotel sits right on the River Danube, which made it easy to get to both Buda and Pest and the main sights. We used Uber to and from the airport, and on our second full day took one up to the top of castle hill on Buda. We were glad we did, it’s a long way up. On the last day we went by Uber to the szechenyi thermal spa. Bring your own towel and slidders/ flip flops. We spent each day out seeing as much as we could, using the hotel as a place to sleep. We joined a walking tour at 11am on Saturday and would definitely recommend it for getting a feel for the city, culture and history. We were glad we brought a kettle, tea, coffee and UHT milk sachets. The TV is all Hungarian, so if you want to watch something in your own language, download it onto your phone.

The terrace has lovely views of the Danube and Buda castle, and the boat is furnished in an elegant style. We had a nice breakfast with enough choice, too. We stayed for 3 nights while visiting Sziget, and the location worked out really well since the festival boat transfer was just 5 min away. Would definitely recommend!

There’s no evening meal served on the boat, but Vogue Boat Cafe is a 5 minute walk along the river and serves superb food. The hotel itself is lovely, right on the Danube, with spacious rooms, a comfortable bed and a generous breakfast with both hot and cold options.
