Gartner Hotel

The staff were very friendly, but no one would acknowledge hearing the noise from the club next door. We stayed Friday to Monday, and on Friday and Saturday the music was ridiculous. It went on until 5 a.m., so we couldn’t sleep. Maybe it only affects rooms next to that building, where Google shows a theater, but otherwise I don’t understand why only a few people mention it. The place was otherwise clean, though the towels were dirty or marked. There’s a sign threatening a fine if you mess them up.

The staff were helpful, and they don’t accept online payments. Still, the hotel felt far too expensive for what you get. We paid €475 for a three-star place that seemed to deserve one star. The fridge leaked, the beds didn’t seem to be cleaned regularly, breakfast wasn’t included, and the location wasn’t ideal.

The rooms are dated, but they’re clean and well looked after. Service was excellent, and the price felt reasonable for the decent quality. It’s in a great tourist area. We stayed just one night, and I’d recommend it for an affordable short stay in a good location.

The breakfast was good for the price, with plenty of food to choose from, and they made a nice omelette. The coffee machine, though, was really bad. The staff were friendly and clearly tried hard. Getting around was easy, with metro and tram stops and shops nearby. But the rooms were poorly designed: the curtains didn’t close fully, the heat didn’t work, and the water in the kettle was old. The light switch and card slot didn’t work either. I was especially bothered by the cleaning staff coming in even though we hadn’t put out the cleaning sign. They didn’t really clean, just tossed my things aside to make the bed. Things were moved, one of our towels was taken by mistake, and they didn’t replace the toilet paper. It wasn’t all bad, but I wouldn’t recommend staying here.
