Gellért Budapest Suites

After taking three flights to Budapest, I was exhausted. They’d forgotten to leave the key in the lockbox, and then ignored our messages instead of fixing the problem for the whole day. Someone let us into the apartment, but we couldn’t leave until the next day, around 3 p.m., when the cleaning lady brought the key. This was the worst check-in experience of my life. They were unprofessional, and I definitely wouldn’t recommend the place. You can see from the screenshot times how slowly they replied while we waited and waited.

The name makes it sound like this apartment hotel belongs to Gellert, which is confusing. My husband has an autoimmune disease and needs the facilities of an apartment hotel. They wouldn’t refund even one euro. This is a scam, be very careful.

I contacted them before check-in and asked to cancel the booking. My ankylosing spondylitis means I need a hotel or a hotel apartment suite. I understand if they charge some fees, but making money by confusing people with autoimmune diseases is about as low as it gets. Using a famous hotel name makes you think these are its apartment suites. Enjoy your scam!

The location was good, with nice little places to eat and amenities nearby that didn't have the same tourist trap prices as across the river. The room itself was stylish and cosy, but we never got to stay in it because it hadn't been cleaned after the previous guests. You have to check in yourself, and you need to call a local number to get the main gate and door opened. There’s no staff on site, and it seems to be managed remotely, possibly from out of the country. The property’s messaging is clearly run by an AI bot. It kept sending duplicate messages while still failing to flag the key request to confirm arrival time in advance. On the day, a real person took a long time to respond. They didn’t arrange for anyone to clean the room or offer another one, leaving us to find somewhere else ourselves. We spent four hours trying to sort it out. I still got the bot’s annoying thank-you and check-out messages afterwards, as if none of that had happened. A few days later, they said they’d found damage to the shower hose and would charge me €15. We hadn’t used the facilities, so obviously that couldn’t have been us. They were also slow to confirm the full refund, and I had to contact the booking platform to speed it up. The place is terribly managed, and I’d tell people to avoid it.
