Green Hotel Budapest

The metro is only three or four minutes from the hotel, and it was quiet. I travelled alone and felt the security was very good. There’s a police station next door, visible from my room. I didn’t try the food, so I can’t comment on it. I’d read the comments on my way there and was worried, but my experience was the opposite. The room was clean, and the sheets and towels were fresh. No hair or dirt, despite what earlier comments had said. I was pleased with the room service, cleaning, and welcome, and the cleaning staff did a good job. I think the comments may have helped improve the service. The rooms still need maintenance and renovation, but nothing else stood out as bad.

We ended up at this hotel after our flight was cancelled and Wizzair reserved rooms for us as an emergency measure. One person couldn’t book through the Wizzair app, so they booked through Booking instead, where rooms appeared to be available. We arrived at night, confused and upset. The staff said they didn’t check Booking and hadn’t thought about it, then threatened to reject that reservation and make us sleep somewhere else. It was 2 in the morning, with a snowstorm outside. Why leave rooms open for booking if guests can be turned away? They knew there were rooms, and it felt like they might leave a woman on the street over their own mistake. After we complained about the way they handled it, they claimed there was no availability for the next night, which we also needed to spend in Budapest. But they reserved rooms for other guests right in front of us, so it seemed they had lied. They barely looked us in the eye, acted as if they couldn’t hear us, and gave us no information about the room, breakfast, or checkout. Disgusting.

The rooms were comfy, though a bit run down, and the food wasn’t great. It’s next to the stadium and the jail. Could’ve been better, could’ve been worse. It was alright.

The hotel is well connected, and the staff are nice. The room standard was surprisingly high, and everything was clean and well looked after. I’d highly recommend it for a short stay.
