Hock Residence by Vagabond

Room 62 is a modern one-bedroom apartment on the top floor, with a large terrace and balcony. Since the neighbors can't see into the sitting room, it feels especially spacious. The location was acceptable, about a 15-minute walk to the metro, with a small mall and food court and two supermarkets, Prima and Lidl, nearby. Communication got confusing, though, with messages split between Agoda chat, email, and WhatsApp.

The room itself was lovely, but the location felt isolated. It was at least a 20-minute walk to anywhere nearby and about 50 minutes on foot to the tourist spots. I didn't feel safe in the area and wouldn't recommend it for solo travelers or women. Getting into the building was also a problem. It needed a code as well as access keycards, but we hadn't received anything in advance or even confirmation of the stay. The heating was running full blast and the room reached 29 degrees. When I contacted them for help, I was ignored, so we had to sleep with the balcony door open to cool things down.

They can charge you for damage you didn't cause, so provide a card without cash on it!!! For cooking, you'll need to buy all the basics yourself, including salt, pepper, and oil. There's a coffee machine, but no coffee, tea, or sugar.

We loved the apartment and will definitely come back. It was clean and ready for us, with a washing machine, dishwasher, and a comfortable feel. Great value and a great location too. A couple of things were odd. The garage's electric charger wasn't working, and the key to fix it seemed to be locked away somewhere. The thermostat didn't seem to control the apartment's climate either. My Canadian husband, who came from snow, was slowly melting in the heat. Even with those issues, we had such a nice stay that we're coming back.
