Hotel Rum Budapest

We had a good weekend stay, with lovely views from the breakfast room and a great location. The people were nice and service was warm. A few things could be better: the shower water wasn’t very warm, and the pillows really need improvement for a 4-star hotel. Breakfast is à la carte, which is fine, but they should offer some fruit, especially at that level.

The breakfast arrangement was disappointing. We had paid for breakfast in advance, but the rooftop restaurant’s à la carte customers seemed to get a distinctly better menu, which made prepaid guests feel like a lower priority. The hotel should reconsider this so the experience feels consistent and welcoming. My partner and I stayed at Hotel Rum for three nights in September 2025. The location was very convenient, close to a metro station and a 10-to-15-minute walk from the main tourist attractions. The pedestrian-friendly streets made it pleasant to explore on foot. Our room was a good size, with a comfortable bed and spacious bathroom, and check-in and checkout were smooth. Hotel Rum was functional and boutique-ish, and it covered the basics, but it didn’t have that special something to make the stay memorable. We were generally pleased, though not eager to return. We’ll probably try somewhere else next time we visit Budapest.

The hotel was affordable for such a central location, right in the heart of the city. There was staff on duty around the clock, our room was cleaned daily, and each request was handled promptly. The hotel itself wasn’t as polished as others I’ve stayed at, so I gave it 4 out of 5. We didn’t try breakfast. From other reviews, it doesn’t sound like we missed much.

Our Gold Rum room was spacious and cleaned every day, and the staff were polite and helpful. We spent four nights at Hotel Rum with breakfast included. It came with a fantastic rooftop view, two drinks, and one breakfast choice from the menu. I’d definitely recommend it for a trip to Budapest.
