Ibis Styles Budapest Center

There are plenty of shops, restaurants, and public transport right outside, and the breakfast was good. WiFi was excellent, the service was great, and I liked being able to open the windows. Coffee and tea were free in the lobby, though there wasn't any in the rooms. The noise from the main road was unbearable for me. I asked several times for a quiet room, but after switching rooms twice, the last one was even louder. I gave up and assumed they didn't have a quiet room. After four nights I moved to another hotel, and I'm still stuck here because I can't get home. If noise doesn't bother you, the hotel is great, but for me it was really unbearable. I was moved three times in all. I first got an accessible room, where the shower wasn't suitable for standing, so I asked to change. They put me in a family room despite my booking a double, then there was a problem with that shower head. They moved me again to another family room. It was a free upgrade, but I would honestly have preferred the right room from the start. This isn't the first time I've had this happen at Ibis, and I may have to stop using the chain.

The room was small, and the sink was clogged, although they did fix it. The cleaner also didn't replace the soap by the sink. There was no kettle, so getting tea or coffee meant going downstairs each time, which wasn't convenient. I didn't expect bottled water in the room, but other Ibis hotels I've stayed in have had water coolers in the corridor, and this one didn't. It's fairly central, with New York Cafe just around the corner, but there were a lot of homeless people nearby and I felt a little unsafe. Breakfast was fine if you eat a lot of bread and croissants. If you're counting calories, it's very hard to find something. For the price, the hotel is okay, but I wouldn't choose to stay here again.

We liked the hotel's location, with the main attractions, restaurants, shops, and supermarkets all within walking distance. The price felt very good for the area. Breakfast was also very good, with lots to choose from, including breads, pastries, yogurt, and cereal. The room had a cozy bed and pillows, and its recent renovation gave it a playful, modern look that we enjoyed. The hotel felt safe, though walking around Budapest at night didn't feel entirely comfortable to us, even though daytime was fine. Tea, coffee, and water were available at reception around the clock. We had a comfortable stay at this three-star hotel. A kettle in the room would have made nighttime tea easier, and a small fridge would help keep drinks or sandwiches cool, especially in the hot summer months.

The staff were great, and the location is amazing, close to lots of good spots and amenities. Breakfast was generous with a great variety. Our room, though, had a strong, unpleasant smell the whole time, which really let the stay down. We knew we'd booked the cheaper option, but the actual room felt smaller than the pictures had led us to expect. I'd especially like to see the room odor improved, along with the size.
