Imre Guest House

We ended up cancelling after an awkward arrival. I’d come early hoping to leave our suitcases before check-in, not realizing this wasn’t a hotel-style place. A helpful guest showed us where it was, but there’s no receptionist, and the owner seemed unhappy to find us in “his house.” He showed us around his unique place, and we were still considering staying, but our personalities seemed to clash after that bumpy start. Also, the room with the private bathroom we thought we’d reserved wasn’t available. Best wishes to the next guest, and apologies to Imre guest house for arriving early.

The location was great and the price compared well with the other options, but there were several letdowns. It was hard to find, the breakfast was poor, with old fruit and bad coffee, and the towels had holes. The bathrooms were badly designed and only partly enclosed, so there’s very little privacy if you’re staying with someone. If you can spend a bit more in Budapest, I’d choose a better hotel for a more pleasant stay.

Really enjoyed the stay, and I’d come back any time. The owner was friendly, the interior was fantastic, and you can walk to the city centre. Finding the place is a little tricky: ring bell number 31, then go up to the 3rd floor. The elevator works, and it’s an experience! :D

Hi Shandor, How are you doing? Hope you're well. I was in Budapest for two weeks until last week, updating the guidebook as usual. I passed your door and nearly rang to see how you were, but last time you seemed to think the internet was the only way to go, and Imre was so rude to me that I decided to skip it.
