It was very hard to find the place: there were no signs or reception, just an unmarked door in a residential building. We’d booked through a travel site that clearly listed check-in from 22:00, but when we arrived they wouldn’t let us in. The host was extremely rude, hung up, and offered no help or solution. We later learned there was a discrepancy in the check-in information. Instead of trying to resolve it, she ignored us. We had to contact customer support and file a complaint to get our money back. I wouldn’t recommend this accommodation to anyone.

The owner was the main reason I’d tell people not to come. She was unfriendly, arrogant, and rude. She said she was doing me a favor by keeping my luggage and that I should leave. I travel a lot, and leaving bags after checkout is very common when possible, so I’d asked and they agreed. When I came back, my water bottle was missing, and as I looked near my luggage where I’d left it, the owner got mean and raised her voice. There’s no good reason to be unkind. I’d planned not to write this review and had put up with poor responsiveness at check-in and not being given the entry code, partly because they’d agreed to let me check out a little later. I figured they fell short in one area but had been generous in another. But being treated that way had no justification. There are plenty of cheaper places nearby, and feeling unwelcome is the opposite of what a guest wants. I’m sorry for the old lady, who was nice, but I’d like to spare others the same unpleasant experience. When I arrived, I had to wait on the road for 15 minutes with my luggage because nobody was there to check me in. The lift didn’t work, so there were three flights of stairs. Don’t book with luggage! The old lady forgot to give me the entrance door code, and at night my card wouldn’t let me into the building. After trying for 10 minutes, I called, feeling bad about disturbing them in the evening, only to learn they hadn’t given me the code.

The main plus is the location, near the city center, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable, though a little small for two. The fridge didn’t work, and paying only in cash wasn’t very convenient. The shared kitchen, shower, and toilet were pretty clean, and the bathroom had soap, conditioner, and shampoo for men and women. It got a bit noisy in the evenings, so earplugs might help. We spent some time figuring out how to reach “City rooms” and work out the door code, since it wasn’t open. We traveled in September, and the room temperature was really nice. In general, it was pretty nice, worth the money, and met my expectations.

There’s no sign for the hotel, so you have to ask around to find it. The room had no air conditioning, and nobody had warned us there was no elevator. Security in the area felt poor. The owner came across as indifferent and rude. She blamed guests for not understanding her language, since she doesn’t speak English, and even seemed to assume they couldn’t understand Hungarian before scolding them in Hungarian. In the hallway, you could still see couples wandering around in disheveled clothes.

It’s a good budget option for people who don’t want to stay in a hostel. The location is very good, close to everything, the room was spacious, and the toilets and showers were clean. The staff were very friendly, though they weren’t always around. The building is impressive and historic, but it’s under construction right now. The walkways were dirty, and it could get very noisy during the day when the workers were there, though it didn’t affect the hotel that much. Our room had so many extension cords that it was confusing, and the mattress seemed a bit old. We’re not picky.
