The huge terrace and open river views make this place feel more like a festival spot than a cramped city hostel. Island Hostel is on Margaret Island at the Sirály Csónakház, surrounded by greenery, with the Danube just meters away. I spent mornings with coffee in a hammock and evenings chatting with other travelers over a BBQ. It's calm and laid-back there, while the city's nightlife is only a quick tram ride away. A rare mix that made other hostels seem dull by comparison. More riverside hideaway than just somewhere to sleep.

The terrace is stunning, and the rooms were clean and pleasant. I had a great couple of days at Island Hostel. The island is lovely and peaceful without feeling dull, and there's a tram stop on the bridge that gets you to the busy area in just a few minutes. The hostel has clear rules, and the main host is honest and direct, which actually makes things easier once you understand her. It had what I'd expect from a good hostel, apart from maybe curtains on the beds. I could live without those. It was great.

The river is only a minute away, and the place is generally clean, including the washroom. It was very quiet at night. It's a nice spot, about a ten-minute walk from the tram. Laundry costs ten euro, and coffee is available inside for a few bucks. The downside was construction starting as early as 7:00 in the morning.

Really good place, with friendly staff and lots of green nature around. If you want to get away from the city for a shirt time on the Island, this spot is for you. 🇧🇩❤️🇭🇺 From Bangladesh

With no cars on the island, I was welcomed by the smell of flowers and a wonderful Danube view from the spacious back porch. I booked the single room and found it clean, quiet, and restful. The staff were friendly and hospitable, and even helped carry my suitcase up the stairs. The place is easy to reach by public transport or electric taxi. If you like being in the city but want nature instead of buildings and traffic noise, it's a cozy little home in busy Budapest. I feel lucky to have found it, and I'll be back regularly. :)
