K+K Hotel Opera Budapest

The location near the opera house and St István Basilica is about the only real plus. I was there last week, and left wondering how this place has four stars. I asked for a double bed and was given a twin room. Service was poor too. The one staff member I spoke with who was polite understood how odd it is to advertise a smart TV when it only works with Android and your own streaming services. There are no Netflix, Disney or other streaming apps on the TV. You can mirror a phone if it's Android; with an iPhone, you're stuck with regular channels, mostly Hungarian and German. When I asked why iPhones weren't supported, another staff member said people complain about it and that it is an issue. Also, I locked the room safe carefully, but came back on my second night to find it open. I'd previously seen a review alleging money had been taken from a safe here and hadn't put much stock in it until that happened to me. I wouldn't recommend staying here.

We had a very pleasant stay at K+K Hotel Opera from April 9-11 😊. It was good value for money, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The beds were comfortable, and our room was clean and neatly kept. Many of the city's main sights are an easy walk away. Breakfast had a decent selection, though it could have been more varied, and some parts of the hotel could use a few updates. I'd consider staying here again despite those small drawbacks 👍

Yesterday at noon, $500 in cash went missing from our wallet in the room safe. When we returned, the safe was slightly ajar and some of our belongings had been moved. Even the towels and cups hadn't been replaced. Management is taking no responsibility for this security breach, offering neither compensation nor even basic empathy. I'm deeply frustrated, and want future travelers to know I don't consider this hotel safe. If your money and peace of mind matter to you, don't stay here. Staff can get into the safe, and management is covering it up.

The standout for us was barman Zoard, such an enthusiastic, hardworking guy who did everything he could to make our stay great. Try his homemade lemonade! Breakfast was really good too, with plenty of choice and tasty buffet food. Our bathroom sink gave us trouble, but someone was called in right away. When it still couldn't be fixed, they offered us another room. The rooms were nice and cleaned daily, and the atmosphere was lovely. Staff were always ready to help with questions. All in all, we had a really good time.
