NH Budapest City

The location was excellent, and the staff were very helpful. Breakfast was excellent too, and the bed was very comfortable. But the large rooms felt depressing and dated, and the place needs a full refurbishment. Our inside room looked onto reception, where every sound echoed. When we went to bed, the fitted bottom sheets on both beds had long brown hairs on them, and one also had several pubic hairs. We were a group of 37 older retired travelers, arriving after a very long journey to find about eight or nine steps and no staff member to help with the suitcases. It was chaotic and felt like an accident waiting to happen. There seems to be a small hidden lift beside the stairs, but nobody told us about it when we arrived. Guest welfare didn’t seem obvious. Check the bed carefully before getting in.

A friend recommended this hotel, and we had a great stay. It’s well located, close to everything, and the hotel was very clean with friendly staff. Our room was spacious and spotless, with a comfortable bed, a nice balcony view, and useful amenities including a coffee machine. The cleaners did a great job, and were helpful whenever we needed anything. Benita and Robert at reception were especially helpful. Thanks, we’ll stay again.

This didn’t feel like a four-star stay, and we were really disappointed. The room was dusty enough that after the first night both my husband and I woke with completely blocked noses and had to buy allergy pills. Outside noise came through the poorly insulated windows, and the toilet kept making noise, especially annoying at night. There were even hairs on the bathroom ceiling. Basic things like slippers were missing too. We wouldn’t stay here again.

The area feels a little dull and doesn’t have the historic-center charm, though Parliament and Margaret Island are close by. For the main tourist areas and nightlife, expect a 15-20 minute walk or a short metro ride. The hotel itself offers good value if you want a quiet night and strong service. Staff were professional and helpful, check-in was smooth, and breakfast had a high-quality spread that stood out. NH Budapest City combines modern comforts with excellent hospitality.
