The room itself was clean and quiet, unless staff were cleaning the rooms next door. But there were recurring problems with the plumbing: hot water came and went, and the toilet pressure was weak, so toilet paper barely flushed. On a previous visit, I didn’t even have a reservation, and getting the change back has always been a hassle, down to scraping together a couple hundred Forints. This time, they gave our booked upstairs room to someone else, even though the room beside it was empty. After a lot of arguing, we got that neighboring room. The receptionist first insisted there was no other option except room 502 on the ground floor. When I said I hadn’t booked that one, she said my room had gone to someone else, as if I could just take it or leave. I reminded her I was a paying guest, not asking for a favor. The staff at reception are, to put it mildly, not up to the job. Something always seems to go wrong.

The restaurant chef is Hauser Istvan. The previous owner has left and now has an Italian restaurant. Thank you for the kind review on behalf of Ágota Bárány. The wedding party said the restaurant served the best soup and main course they’d ever had, and it’s lovely to see the chef praised.

I’d tell everyone to stay away from all their properties: sas club hotel, siesta club hotel, silver club hotel, and solar club hotel. What happened to us went well beyond a bad room. The operator made us pay for a technically defective induction hob, claiming it was our responsibility to cover the broken appliance and take it away because they didn’t need it. They even refused to copy the appliance papers, which could have helped us get it repaired or replaced under warranty. If you do have to stay there, document every defect and bit of dirt when you arrive. Otherwise you may be charged for poor service and face arrogant accusations that might require legal action to fight. We only took this place as temporary accommodation because it was near my workplace and we had to decide quickly. The first impression was repulsive, but we tried to get through four months calmly and cheerfully. There were bad smells, grubby wallpaper and tiles, torn and disgusting smelly curtains and furniture, and a filthy mattress. The Wi-Fi was unusable, residents were loud at night, and there was even a police raid. The operator’s business practices are incomprehensible to a normal person. I wouldn’t blame them for the pitiful condition alone, but this is a ruin that isn’t fit to house people.

The hotel is spread across several buildings, and there’s a restaurant open until 11 pm. It’s a quiet complex set apart from the city. For tourists mainly looking to visit central Budapest, the location may not be very convenient. The view isn’t of anything in particular, though you can sit on the terrace in peace and look out at nature.
