The location matches the photos and marketing, and that’s the only good thing I can say. The apartment wasn’t ready at check-in, hadn’t been properly cleaned, and felt dirty and smelly, so we had to clean it ourselves. There were cracked tiles, damaged door frames and furniture, permanent marks on the walls, no curtains in the main living room, a TV that didn’t work, bedding that wasn’t ironed and may not have been washed properly, and missing inventory. I reported the problems to the owner and got no reply. The deposit issue was worse. There were three of us on the same flight itinerary. We left the apartment at 03:20, boarded our 06:05 flight to Brussels, and I rented a car there at 09:16. The owner kept 50 euros from our 200 euro breakage deposit, calling it a late departure fee, even though nothing was broken. I sent him our boarding passes and my Brussels car rental agreement, but he still refused to return the full deposit. He claimed his cleaning staff had seen one of us at the apartment that day, despite us being at Brussels airport before 08:30. That’s impossible. I’ve already reviewed this on Booking.com, covering the good, the bad and the very ugly. It’s your call whether you’re willing to put up with this.

My family and I had a terrible stay, and I’d urge anyone considering this apartment to be cautious. The owner later accused us of damaging it, even though I’d documented the problems we found. That accusation felt baseless and made an already awful experience worse. The apartment was in a luxury location, but inside we found broken flooring, loose window frames, dismantled panels, broken chairs, no lights in the living room, and missing keys for the shower room and toilet. The toilet was clogged too, leaving me to try to deal with the plumbing over the weekend. I documented the issues as we came across them. I’m sharing this to warn other people looking for somewhere to stay in Budapest. I was deeply unhappy with the condition of the apartment and the owner’s response, and wouldn’t recommend booking it. The owners should fix the problems and treat future guests fairly.

I booked three nights last June and was given a different apartment. It was dirty, and there was no remote for the air conditioning or any way to operate it manually. After we’d spent a couple of hours sweating and getting upset, the owner said he’d arrange a taxi to bring the remote the next day as a “favour.” I chose to leave. Booking promised me a full refund, but the landlord still refuses to compensate me and seems to be trying to avoid it. I’ve never had this kind of disappointment with Booking before, but this is the second time they’ve let me down by not taking responsibility for a failure like this. Think twice before booking, and stay away from this owner. I’ll share more photos soon.

The whole place smells like cats, and there are stains on the couch and beds. I haven’t seen a more disgusting apartment. I don’t get why Booking.com has no reviews for it, or only good ones. Maybe the reviews were bought. I can’t recommend it. You’d be better off sleeping on the street. I can’t believe the Hungary government lets a place like this be listed on Booking.com, unless rentals here aren’t regulated.

I had to cancel because I was sick and asked for a refund, but they said that wasn’t possible. After that, they ignored my messages and Booking.com’s messages too. On the arrival date, they contacted me to ask when I’d get there, even though I’d already clearly told them I couldn’t travel. The host was very unfriendly and communication was poor.
