Vaci Boutique Loft Suites

The room photos are the only part of the advertisement that matched our experience. This is a renovated room in a very old building, not a hotel. The building was dirty, disgusting, and in poor repair, and the place itself felt unclean and unwelcoming. It’s on a noisy, busy street, and the water shown in a picture isn’t actually nearby. There was no sign marking the entrance, and nobody around could tell us where it was. We had no one to speak to until the contact person replied on WhatsApp with instructions. We needed a code to get in, and the route through the building wasn’t clear. It felt like someone had taken over the first floor and made a room there. Why was there not even a note at the entrance or inside? I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.

It’s a good location, just a few meters from Vaci street, but I wouldn’t recommend staying here for more than one night. The Double Luxury room had a broken kettle and no coffeemaker, even though the room facilities list says there should be one. I waited over 10 hours for a replacement kettle. There’s no rubbish basket in the room, kitchenette for preparing meals, microwave, or laundry service. You can only contact staff by WhatsApp or phone, and they’re very slow to respond, with more automatic replies.

We cancelled and booked somewhere else as soon as we saw the room. There were stains on the floor, curtains, bed frame, headboard, and mattress. The mattress had hairs and crumbs all over it and what looked like possible signs of bedbugs. Cobwebs were still hanging from the ceiling directly above the bed, something another reviewer had reported more than three months earlier. The check-in was a stressful mess from the start. We hadn’t received instructions before arriving, couldn’t reach the host by phone, and got no reply to our Expedia app messages until much later. We had to wait at a nearby cafe. The listing didn’t show the correct address, so don’t search for it by name on maps. Once instructions finally came, getting into the unit was like solving a puzzle, and the host’s video didn’t match the actual entrance process, so we had to guess where the key was. The room was on a loud, busy street lined with sketchy massage parlours and restaurant servers aggressively trying to draw people inside. It made for a very stressful start to the trip. Save yourself the time and book somewhere else, there are many better places around Budapest.

I had a great four-day stay, and the price felt right for what we got. The room was clean, and I never ran into any problems. There were enough towels, toilet paper, shampoo, and body wash. The shower did take a few minutes to get hot, but that was the only downside for me. Getting in was easy to understand. A few hours before check-in, I received the instructions and a video showing the process. When I had questions, I got quick replies. The location is central and within easy walking distance of popular spots. Some massage places and cafes try to bring people in, but nobody was aggressive towards us. The street got much quieter later at night, and I slept without trouble. I saw a complaint about hearing the downstairs door and the door to the hotel open. Other people are staying in these rooms too, so I don’t see that as a problem. I wouldn’t put too much weight on the low-rated reviews. I’d definitely recommend staying here.
