The walls are paper-thin, so you hear everything from the rooms next door. We eventually moved to Chloe Hotel for the same price, and the quality felt like a different world. I’m surprised this place has the rating it does. I’d strongly advise staying somewhere else, even a budget hotel should offer better standards. Our stay was so bad I felt I had to warn people visiting Budapest, even though I rarely write reviews. The hallway and room smelled strongly of vinegar at check-in, and the bathroom was worse, with a sewage and feces smell that spread through the room and made it impossible to stay there. I told the receptionist straight away. He said he’d call someone and asked us to wait, but after half an hour he said nobody had answered. When we asked if it might take 10 minutes or 2 hours, he stopped responding. We aired the room out, rested for an hour, and got the same vague, dismissive answer when we followed up. The receptionist was disengaged and unhelpful from the start. We’d arrived a couple of hours early, and he barely showed us where to leave our bags, in a completely open room. When we asked for another room or a refund, he said he’d contact management and get back to us, but never did. As his shift was ending, we told him we were checking out and wanted our money back. He was openly rude and still didn’t help, saying only that he’d send a customer service number. We’d already contacted them through a useless AI WhatsApp chatbot that repeated the same replies. Booking handled the refund, thankfully, but we lost three hours of our weekend.

A comfortable, clean room and a very reasonable price, especially compared with Paris and other European capitals. It was a pleasant, affordable place to stay right in the heart of Budapest.

There’s no breakfast at the hotel, but plenty of places to eat nearby. The shower is tiny and could be a problem if you’re heavy set, and the walls are thin enough that you can hear neighbours talking on the phone at night. Still, the room was very clean, and the front desk guy, who seems to run the place on his own, was really nice. As a solo traveller on a tight budget, I’d recommend it. The subway is close, so getting here from the airport is easy, and I’d come back if I’m in Budapest again.

We stayed in Nov 24 and had a lovely time. It’s a great, convenient location and a real bargain. The rooms are clean, bright, and comfortable, though we could hear a little noise at night.
