Hotel Aquarell

The food was the highlight for us, with lots of delicious dishes to choose from, and breakfast was tasty too. The kids’ menu was a great idea, my six-year-old happily ate both meals. There was plenty for entertainment as well: billiards, darts, air hockey, table football, and a playroom for children. We stayed one night with half board and had booked two rooms. The first impression was good, and the reception staff were polite and friendly. One room was meant to fit two adults and a child, but it was set up for two, so they brought an extra bed within ten minutes. Both rooms were very clean, the beds were comfortable, and the bathrooms were perfectly fine. The wellness area was more than enough for us, with a large warm pool, a hot thermal pool, and a jacuzzi. I really don’t understand the negative reviews about Aquarell hotel. We’ll definitely be back, and I recommend it to everyone.

The staff were friendly, which was the one bright spot. The hotel itself felt unwelcoming, and the room was very dated, with a narrow, overly soft bed. The bathroom was covered in rust, and cleanliness was lacking in the restaurant and elsewhere. Of all the hotels I stayed in in Hungary, this was the worst. I can’t recommend it.

The hotel is a good place to stay in this area, with free parking and a really large lot. It seems geared toward holidays and family stays, and there’s a playroom for kids. The pool is very large, and the spa area is nice. My room was a good size, over 25 square metres, with plain but useful furniture in a Holiday Inn sort of style. The cabinets could hold enough for a two-week stay for two people. I liked having a fairly large desk, two armchairs, and a small round table. The bathroom was fine, though the shower hose was too short for a tall person. Cleanliness was good, but you have to request room cleaning; it doesn’t happen automatically. Breakfast was great. Dinner was less to my taste, very Hungarian in style, with lots of meat and heavy food. I would’ve liked more vegetables, fresh or cooked, and fewer pickled ones.

They cleaned the room and changed the towels just once in four days. The rooms are old-fashioned, with lots of broken items, especially in the bathroom. There’s no air conditioning, which seems unreasonable for a four-star hotel when it’s over 35 degrees outside. The food was repetitive, greasy, and not healthy, and the pool had too much chlorine. I wouldn’t recommend this hotel to anyone.
