Hotel Csopak Resort & Lake

Csopak is the best town on Lake Balaton, and the beach is tremendous. If you’re in Csopak, Hotel Csopak is the place to stay. It’s right by the lake, with kind staff, amazing rooms, and a great restaurant. Breakfast has whatever you might want, and if you’d rather swim in a pool than in the lake, it’s only a few steps away.

The rooms were really clean and modern, though the balconies could use some renovation. The beach is only 50m from the hotel, and they give you a 20% discount card for beach tickets. Breakfast was excellent, with lots of options, and there were plenty of activities in the area. The staff were friendly, relaxed, and made sure we had what we needed. I enjoyed my stay very much.

The location is handy, right next to the beach, with a few bars and restaurants nearby. Room size was average, and everything was clean. Breakfast was better than average, with a nice range of bread, ham, cheese, fruit, cereals, and even sparkling wine.

We paid 500€ for three nights. The pool was nice, parking was available, and breakfast was pretty good on most days. Still, it wasn’t worth the money. When we first got to our room, there were a bunch of hairs in the bathroom. We told reception and were moved, but the second room also had a few hairs, as the photos show. We didn’t want to move again, so we didn’t report it a second time. After the second day, we got back late and our keycard wouldn’t open the room. Reception let us in with a master key and asked us to mention it in the morning. They then said the date had been wrong and changed it so the card would work again. At checkout, they said we’d had drinks at the restaurant and five kinds of drinks from the minibar. We hadn’t taken anything from either, and wondered if the room change had caused a mix-up. They checked several times, including the security cameras, and the wait was unpleasant. They also tried to charge us for a beach card we hadn’t bought or rented. When they said I’d signed for it, I asked to see the voucher. The name and signature on it weren’t mine, which seemed to show something had gone wrong with their administration. After about 15 minutes, we were finally allowed to leave and check out. On our last morning, a lot of flies were around the bread table and most of the food wasn’t fresh. It was Monday, so maybe breakfast is only good on weekends?
