The staff were really pleasant, and breakfast was decent. We stayed in the family room in this small hotel set in a classic old town house. It was nice, though the furniture felt a bit old. One bed had very little space around it, and the bathroom door wouldn't lock. The place was being renovated while we were there, so that may change in the future.

There are parking spots for visitors, and the prices get 5* from me. It's quite close to Budapest, Hungary's capital, and you can see the Danube there too. The food and service are excellent. Such a cosy place, with a garden that feels magical, full of flowers and...cats. I highly recommend it.

The staff took great care of us, and this is a wonderful hotel with a long history.

Kikelet Panzió is Pet Friendly for a symbolic extra fee of 2.000 HUF, about 6€. I have an English Setter, considered a medium-sized breed, and was very pleased with this accommodation. I'll return to Dunakeszi, so hamarosan találkozunk 🤗 Guests can come and go as they please, with keys for all the entrances and a code for the driveway gate. The bed was wonderfully comfortable. I have a lot of neck and back soreness, so a good mattress and pillow matter a lot to me, and I slept well. I don't usually eat breakfast, but the food smelled and looked so good that I gave up some beauty sleep for a nice home-cooked meal. The garden at Kikelet Panzió is beautifully maintained. You enter through the small gate, which connects to reception by intercom, or drive through to the little parking area in the yard. There are a barbecue spot and a 🏓 table, plus a pond, a big garden swing and a lovely wooden gazebo. Coffee and tea are available in the lobby, and you can enjoy them on a bench by the main entrance or out in the garden. The place is very clean. Bathrooms have spacious shower cabins and hot water all the time. There's cable TV on a smart 📺, but all channels except BBC and CNN are tuned to 🇭🇺, so I'd bring anything I wanted to watch on a memory stick. Wi-Fi details and the rules, including checkout and breakfast times and the no-smoking policy, are clearly posted in 🇭🇺/🇬🇧 around the lobby, halls and rooms. The property has an old, renovated villa with a beautiful salon, concert piano, dining room and glazed terrace on the ground floor. The floors have carefully maintained parquet. Four rooms are upstairs, including a central one with a pretty large balcony, and a modern little building at the back has around six more rooms. The pleasant receptionist speaks English. This stay was the complete opposite of my first visit to Budapest, 🇭🇺, 15 years ago. Back in 2006, at 2200h, almost everything was closed. At the city entrance, along the road where you have to drive first at 70 and then 50km/h 🤦🏼‍♀️, with traffic-control cameras everywhere, we spotted a motel that didn't look firmly locked. Somehow, using sign language, we persuaded the person inside to rent us a room for the night. She didn't seem to understand English at all. I can't say she gave us the room she had available, because I got the impression we were her only guests then. It had three separate, scattered single beds, low wooden ones like in a primary school, and I'm quite sure nothing else. Enough about that horrid episode of my life. Jó napot 🙃
