The breakfast buffet was delicious, and the rooms were modern, fresh, and hygienic. There’s a bus stop outside and free parking for cars, both convenient. But the hotel experience didn’t match the price. The toilet wasn’t properly cleaned, some lights were broken or wouldn’t turn on, and the AC didn’t work. When we reported it, staff seemed indifferent and did nothing. We were also talked down to, told we had to turn the AC on for it to work. Several female staff members seemed irritated by questions; at check-in, one sighed and rolled her eyes, making us feel like a nuisance instead of welcome guests. At night, loud, intoxicated patrons gather in the outdoor seating area below the rooms, and sleep was impossible. The owner should consider customer service training for the female staff.

The rooms were clean and comfortable, with a modern look, though there’s no tea or coffee setup in them. Breakfast was included, with a hot and cold buffet you can help yourself to, plus an automatic coffee machine. We ate at the restaurant a couple of times and really enjoyed the food. The menu has some English, and there’s a good range of beer and wine. Service was friendly and welcoming, and they spoke good English. Parking was tight, but we found a space. It’s well placed for exploring this interesting Soviet-era city.

I checked other customers’ comments and saw this doesn’t seem to have happened to me alone. The waitress rolled her eyes and was very rude while pouring water. I seriously wonder whether she’s had any basic training in how to treat people respectfully.

We only came in for lunch, not to stay at the hotel. The food was tasty and perfectly fine, but the service was much worse. The woman serving us was unpleasant and kept speaking rudely. I felt less like a guest than a kid being constantly put in my place.
