The hotel is getting a little old, but it was perfect for the large conference we were attending. The spa facilities, sports massage, and grounds were really enjoyable. The fresh air and mountain surroundings made a lovely change from London. The staff were great. At dinner, the chef came out to ask how the buffet was and check that there was something for every dietary requirement.

The fresh air, beautiful nature, nice park, animation programs, history, and stories all have their appeal, but I don't think this place deserves 4+ stars now. Even 3 seems too much. Cleaning and tidiness were serious problems, especially with the toys and other children's items, like the baby chair in the restaurant. The baby bed was broken. It seemed they didn't like children, and if so, they should refuse bookings with kids. The pool was small and dirty, the balcony parapet was ramshackle and dangerous, and the room safe didn't work. The kitchen was good enough, but when I asked about one of the Wines of House, they wouldn't answer and then gossiped about my questions among themselves. When I asked for truly hot water for my tea, the waiter brought it grudgingly. Most of our waiters were rude by default. The final accommodation invoice was much higher than what we'd agreed previously. Hunguest has much better hotel than this. Visit date: autumn of 2015.

The setting is beautiful, and the spa is pretty good, with both indoor and outdoor sauna. The food could be better, and the hotel rooms need a general tune-up or renovation.
