We travel a lot and expected more from a four-star hotel. The bread at breakfast wasn't nice, it seemed at least three days old and had been frozen. When we asked for fresh bread, they said there was none left. The bacon didn't seem very fresh either. Our room had a dated, 90s-style design. Its large windows faced the parking area, playground, and sidewalk, and the curtains didn't give us enough privacy.

The rooms were comfortable and very clean. Meals had plenty of options, though breakfast and lunch were only 3/5 for quality. The coffee bar at lunch was the exception when it was open, that was 5/5. Dinner in the cellar was lovely to look at and the portions were big, but the taste and quality fell short, so 4/5.

We had a nice stay, though the rooms are small. They’re cozy, and the restaurant food could use a lot of improvement.

The spa was a real bright spot, with several saunas, and the staff were welcoming. The rooms feel dated, and ours had big windows facing the street and pavement. We weren’t sure the curtains gave us much privacy, and some of the appliances didn’t work properly. Breakfast had a decent range, but the same things seemed to come around each day. Check the bar prices before ordering, two beers cost far too much in our case. We were offered a wine cellar tour and tasting through an English leaflet, but the tour was entirely in Hungarian. I also couldn’t quite work out what the Beatles Museum does at the hotel. There are snooker and, I think, ping-pong tables, though it wasn’t clear where to get cues or balls, or what they cost.

The staff were kind and ready to help with requests. Our room was clean, comfortable, air-conditioned and roomy enough to spend time in, not just sleep. Parking costs a fair amount, but it’s monitored by CCTV and feels more secure.
