We’d ordered more than 50 euros’ worth of food for the two adults, but the way we were treated was extremely offensive. They asked us to leave the restaurant because our 4-year-old was crying. Completely unacceptable.

The restaurant is beautifully decorated, and the meal was a really nice experience. We ordered a whole table of different dishes, and every one was delicious. The service was pleasant too. Nagyon finom, one of the best Hungarian restaurants I’ve visited. It felt like the people there take pride in cooking and enjoy it, rather than just serving tourists.

We liked it enough to come back twice, and loved this place. On Saturday a quartet played while we ate, which was a great touch. We got seated right away on both our weekend visit and weekday lunch, so that was easy. Inside, it has the feel of an institution, with lovely decor and a huge, cavernous dining room. The portions are massive, so we over-ordered, but don’t regret it. The goulash, catfish, and everything else we tried were great. Perfect food for a wine day.

I liked the cellar-like dining room and the live music, and the local wines were good. The food was okay, traditional Hungarian cooking with generous portions. The service let us down: I asked to sample two wines before choosing, and the waiter agreed, then brought full glasses that we were charged for.
