Gyula Vár Panoráma Apartman

Really great.

The windows face the big rocks and the castle. You’ve got pretty much what you need for a few days, though there’s no way to cook anything. The spa is close too, about 500m from the apartment.

The pension is in a very good spot, close to the castle bath. But it needs some renovation. The corridors were very dirty, and the rooms hadn’t been cleaned properly. There wasn’t even toilet paper in the bathroom when we arrived, and one room had no sheet. The bathrooms smelled terribly of sewage, and we had to wash all the kitchen equipment before using it. Wi-Fi didn’t work at all in two of the three rooms.

Getting into the apartment parking area was really difficult, and in the end another guest who was already vacationing there let us in. No one was there to meet us on arrival. The apartment itself is well equipped, the air conditioning worked well, and the location suited us, near the castle, the Andrásy Castle, and the spa. We had a good time overall, but three things took away from it: the Wi-Fi signal was often too weak; the bin under the sink was still full of the previous couple’s trash, which made us uneasy; and although checkout was between 10 and 11 am, the cleaner knocked at 10:30 to ask if we were leaving that day. Before 11, the owner showed up and started changing the apartment’s front door lock.
