Hotel Három Gúnár

We only stayed one night, which was a pity. The rooms were clean and had new furniture, the area was quiet, and the staff were helpful and nice. Breakfast was served in a large, comfortable restaurant.

We stayed four nights in August 2024 in a superior double room. The location worked well for us, with downtown easy to reach on foot, and we could usually find a street parking spot right outside. The room was clean and the bed comfortable, though the bathroom felt dated. Its only separation from the room was a glass door, so there wasn’t much privacy for using the toilet or shower. Breakfast came with the rate, but it felt dull over four mornings. I would have liked healthier choices like muesli and fresh fruit. There were no cups for tea or cappuccino during our visit, just soup bowls for those drinks. I hope that has since been fixed.

It’s a modern hotel near the center, and the rooms are fine. The bathroom arrangement was the problem for me: the sink is in the room, with some tiled floor and some carpet, while the toilet is built into the shower. So showering leaves everything wet. The milky glass door gives little privacy, since it’s noisy and you can see through it. Breakfast was okay for a four-star hotel.

The staff were welcoming and helpful, and the beds and blankets were clean. There’s enough room for two, but the place feels overdue for renovation. The bathroom is old, and dirt on the curtains and windows made it clear that the cleaning budget hasn’t been enough. Breakfast wasn’t good, especially the bread. Everything looked and smelled as if it might be expired. I can’t say why, but we found the same thing at another hotel in this town. They still have a lot of catching up to do to meet Western European standards.
