Dolce Vita Panzi

Rooms were cozy and tidy in this lovely little hotel, and the price was moderate. The owner was kind and helped us with parking. Breakfast wasn't available while the dining room was being renovated, or perhaps because of the pandemic. The adjoining pizzeria was open, but it didn't feel welcoming or suitable for dinner, so I left.

The staff were friendly and the place was nice, but the food was unacceptably poor. It was bland, uninspired, and felt like amateur home cooking. I've had better meals in school cafeterias for less money.

Just reviewing the restaurant: the decor was nice, the staff friendly, and the drinks very good. The food came out piping hot, and both the goose soup, Hungarian medallions, and Gundel pancakes were fantastic. We ate there again a year later and had another very good meal, beef red wine goulash and Hungarian style pork medallions. Still finom!

Buyer beware. The rooms were filthy and worn down, with old linens and old, dirty everything. They're like rooms from 1960, or the Bates motel, and you have to go through the pizza shop to reach them. The family running the place seemed crazy, to say the least. In the evenings they lock the shop gate whenever they feel like it, even though nobody, and I mean nobody, eats there. On my third day they told me I had to be inside by 10 pm, and the gate wouldn't open again until 6 am. Umm... crack heads! I packed quickly and got the hell out. I could put up with the old rooms, but not the family. Worst place to stay in Miskolc, or anywhere in the world. Time to get the hell out of Dodge.
