The location was good, which is why I’m giving one star instead of zero. Everything else was frustrating. We had to pick up the keys at an office before going to the property. I emailed them our arrival time but never got a reply, so the office trip was unavoidable. At the building, the key tag wouldn’t let us in because it wasn’t activated. We had to go back for a spare, then return to drop off our luggage. The room was dirty, so we went back to the office again to complain. A nice woman walked us back and confirmed we were right. She cleaned the urinal, but the sheets and towels weren’t changed, and the shower floor hadn’t been mopped. On our last day, it rained in Budapest and, somehow, this was the only flat in the building that lost power. We had no electricity, internet or air conditioning. I understand the owner may not have been able to control the outage, but nobody even apologized. Access to both the unit and room depended on codes, so after a night out, being locked out during a blackout was a real worry. I wouldn’t recommend staying here. Spend a little more and look elsewhere.

This is more like an Airbnb than a hotel, and the phone number they provided was wrong. My flight was delayed, and they told me to pay extra and arrive before 1:30 am. I got there before the deadline and agreed to pay, but nobody was there to check me in. We spent the night at the door. Very disappointing, so be cautious.

The apartment is in Budapest City Centre, with Liszt Ferenc Square about a 15-minute walk away and a basilica and opera house nearby. Parliament is also within walking distance. The city center is around a 20-minute walk, and the Basilica is a 50-minute drive away. Spinoza and Fausto's Osteria are both about five minutes away on foot, with more meal options nearby. There’s a kitchen, climate control, a safe and a DVD player. The rooms have hardwood floors and private bathrooms, with double and single beds. The property has a designated smoking area and luggage storage. Ferihegy airport is about a 25-minute drive away.

It’s a very basic hostel, but the room was clean and they provide the essentials. The setting is a grand old building. For the price, you get what you pay for.

I’d booked a room for two weeks in September 2020, but only found out after arriving in Budapest that they wouldn’t let me move in. Why hadn’t they told me sooner? I was left in an unfamiliar city at night with all my luggage, trying to find somewhere else. It was a really stressful experience.
