We ended up with a pretty awful experience here, and I can't recommend this guest house. I had asked for a quote through its website two months ahead, exchanged a couple more emails with the manager, and then booked. When we arrived at 5 p.m. on Friday, we could hardly get through the gate. A guest who was already waiting let us in through the back and quietly said the host seemed very out of it. There was no doorbell, and after standing outside for ten minutes we had to make enough noise to get someone's attention. It turned out the couple who had arrived just before us also had a booking problem. The host couldn't find their reservation on booking.com, but offered them his only available room. He didn't remember ours either. After digging out a folder, he showed us indignantly that our booking wasn't there and told us to check it, even though I had the printed emails and pulled up the correspondence. He didn't seem interested. The other couple eventually decided to give the room to us instead. We were already unsure about staying, since we asked how we'd get in at dawn after the music festival if arriving in the afternoon had been this difficult. The host made disrespectful remarks about why two young girls would come home at dawn. My girlfriend and I are both 31. We were shocked by the way he spoke to us. He also kept touching my arm, which I found hard to tolerate from a stranger, and spoke down to us as though he were doing us a favor by letting us sleep there. He seemed to expect us to act like shy teenagers. We answered politely but firmly on the narrow porch. We checked the room, couldn't find a key, and went back outside. He gave us a numbered key and asked what we needed it for, and whether we planned to leave a lot of money in the room. We went back up and found it wasn't the right key. We called another place to stay and said goodbye. By then the host was on his phone and didn't even look up. I wish there were a minus star option, because even the one star feels undeserved.
