Nice hosts and a good location.

There was a stale, musty smell throughout the old building, and the rooms were dirty and smelled bad. The refrigerators in them looked about 30 years old and rusty, and I found live and dead bugs in the bedding and lampshades. Five rooms that can hold around 30 people share one bathroom with a toilet and shower, and it was in poor shape too. The shower door was held together with tape and wouldn't close properly. With several guests, you could wait up to an hour to shower or use the toilet. The kitchen had an ancient, rusty gas stove covered in thick grease, so I wouldn't want to cook on it. The toaster had cobwebs and looked worn out. The door was so hard to close that you had to slam it, making a lot of noise for everyone staying there.

The location is good. That's about all I can say in its favor. The place felt old, musty and ugly, and the furniture looked like it had been picked up from the garbage. The bathroom was awful, below standard and thick with limescale. I'm not fussy, but this really was terrible. Some residents seemed to live there long term and smoked openly, so the owner must know about it. The cigarette smoke was nonstop. Even flushing the toilet was a challenge because there was hardly any water pressure. Toilet paper was only available for an hour in the morning, and if it ran out, you had to wait until the next day. The beds were bad too. On the top bunk, some support slats were missing, so you could only lie still. Some people slept on mattresses, but there was a headboard at the end, as if that made it a bed. The photos might give you some idea. And the locked toilet door was like an escape room, just one more adventure.
