Dóm Hotel

I picked this hotel because it was only a couple of minutes on foot from Szeged’s Christmas market. I was traveling from Arad to Budapest Airport and planned to spend a couple of nights in Szeged to see the market. The online check-in email let me send a copy of my passport ahead of time, so I didn’t have to deal with that on arrival. I got there early because of the bus schedule, but my room was ready, and the receptionist welcomed me and checked me in. Sorry, I didn’t catch her name. The room was a good size, with two single beds pushed together as a double. The strange thing was being given one single duvet for that bed. I was alone, so it wasn’t a big deal, but you’d expect a double duvet with a double bed. There was a minibar stocked with alcohol, which I didn’t touch. Plenty of shops are nearby, and the room also has a smart TV and free WiFi. It was mostly quiet inside. A few drunk, loud people did walk past outside at 1 in the morning.

The room was clean, the staff were very kind, and the price was reasonable. The location puts you right among the city’s attractions, so it’s a perfect place to stay.

We had no complaints about the room or service. The staff were extremely friendly, and the hotel sits on a quiet street in a great location. Parking is available in the underground garage if you reserve and pay for it, or there are spaces on the street out front.

We stayed from 23rd to 24th July. At first, reception staff pointed out that our car was in a no-parking zone and explained that the paid garage was available, along with two free spaces in front of reception. Our car was a little larger, so we took one of those spaces. He kindly went over the amenities, answered our questions, and gave advice when we asked. In the morning, another gentleman at reception was just as kind. He showed us the breakfast area and the coffee options. I’d highly recommend giving the place a try.
