Really good food!!!!
The buffet was a letdown: the side dish was pretty meager, and the rice was overcooked. While I was considering the meats, I saw a dead wasp, which put me off eating them. I went with some kind of chicken with cheese and pineapple instead. That was strange too, so I scraped off the topping and ate the meat because I was hungry. The half-eaten pickle and grated red cabbage were relatively good. The dumpling soup, whatever kind it was, tasted bland to me. The displayed cutlery and plates didn’t look convincing in terms of cleanliness either. The cola came from a 2-liter bottle and was barely fizzy. I think it had been open for days. I usually check Google reviews before going to a restaurant, but skipped it this time. The 3.8 rating says it all. I’d rather pay a little more for better quality. This felt like the school cafeteria I remember from 20 years ago. If someone runs a restaurant like this, they shouldn’t force it.
The owner’s kindness made up for a few things that bothered me: the drinks weren’t cold, and instead of service there was a background chat between friends. Still, my wife, daughter and I had a good lunch for the price. Nothing was perfect, but everything felt acceptable, and nobody was expecting four-star service. After reading the earlier comments, I also wonder why people who dislike a place don’t simply get up and leave.
We’d have been better off going somewhere farther away after the zoo. The food was bland and there was barely anything to choose from, worse than what you’d find in a cafeteria. The restaurant was otherwise empty, with just two teenage trainees working there, a boy learning to cook and a girl learning to serve. When we asked what was in a dish, she had to ask him, then said she didn’t know. She didn’t seem to know what they were making that day or what went into it. She also never checked whether we wanted drinks. We asked when we arrived whether our three-year-old would be charged, since he usually eats only a few bites from our plates. She said no, but when we paid she charged us anyway, saying, “yeah, the child ate too.” It’s a place I’ll forget. I’m surprised it’s still open. Go somewhere else if you want a decent meal.
