Szent Janos Hotel

We stayed in the new building, where the rooms were clean and nice, with comfortable beds and a small kitchen. There’s private parking in the underground garage, and the location is great, about a 15-minute walk from the Dom.

Szent János Hotel is handy for exploring the city because it’s right in the center. The rooms are well kept and the staff are friendly, with free Wi-Fi, a fitness center and a lounge available. The breakfast and wellness center could be better, but it’s a decent option if you want a central hotel with basic amenities.

Tucked away on a quiet street, but you can get to the centre very easily.

The room was spacious, but the quality didn’t live up to what we expected from the photos. The shower drain was slow, so water collected around your feet while showering. The tiny wine cooler they call a fridge couldn’t chill water properly or fit larger bottles. I also asked for an iron to press my shirt, but they don’t provide one in the room. They offered to iron it for 5000 huf, which seemed eye-wateringly expensive, especially at 9pm. The welcome was poor, and we were told the sauna was out of use. The hotel felt deserted, with gloomy corridors and furniture left scattered around. One wall light had a discoloured shade because the bulb was melting it. I reported the fire hazard to reception.
