Gotthard Therme Hotel & Conference

Dinner and breakfast were excellent, and the rooms were clean and quiet. The staff were very pleasant, though most didn't speak English. The elevator buttons barely responded to touch, so it was hard to call it. The jacuzzi and quiet pool were nicely warm, but the large indoor pool and its surrounding air felt cold. The outdoor pool was freezing, with no heating at all, and the tiles by the big indoor pool were too slippery. Teenagers were allowed into the wellness area without parents, so expect nonstop, unruly screaming there.

There isn't much around the hotel, and some nights were noisy from a team-building group and a wedding, right through to early morning. Still, the staff were friendly, and the rooms were clean and cozy. For kids, it had everything: a playroom, pools, and food that were all perfect. Our room stayed at 25°C even with the window open. They explained that the AC wasn't switched on yet in May after the winter period.

The price is good, though prices can change rapidly these days. The hotel is great and definitely earns its four stars. The hot spring connected to it was okay, but mostly indoors and geared toward kids. I would have loved a 50/50 indoor and outdoor setup. Then I'd give it the fifth star and come back.

We visited in September 2020, and the breakfast and dinners were absolutely fantastic, with lots of meals and desserts to choose from. The staff were friendly, and the water park was the most impressive part, with loads of different pools and an outdoor area too. It's a nice hotel overall, but the sauna park wasn't included in our package, so we had to pay extra. Prices felt a little high in general, including bike rental, lunch, and drinks, and water wasn't included with dinner. The beds also need attention. The pillows and mattresses seemed worn out and uncomfortable, and extra pillows didn't help much. We had to switch rooms after water from the bathroom flooded into our living room. There was no floor drain and the floor was uneven. The staff handled it nicely and gave us a new room right away, with a lovely balcony on the top floor. We had a nice stay, thank you.
